Parent / Carer Information
Developing happy, balanced children and youth is a partnership
At Summerland Christian College, we believe that students excel when parents and teachers combine for a tailored and supportive approach to their education. That’s why we facilitate and encourage parental communication and participation in each child’s learning and academic progress.
We create plenty of opportunities to engage with parents, starting each year with a meet the teacher event.
Families and parents from all backgrounds are welcome in our College community. If you’d like to get involved, there are several ways that you can support our school, including (reading groups, volunteering, canteen etc get more info here). We welcome the support and getting to know your family better.
Parent Communications
If you have questions or concerns, your first port of call is your child’s Teacher (Primary) or Homeroom Teacher (Secondary). They are a great source of information and can facilitate communication with class teachers, the Learning Enrichment team the Wellbeing Team and College Leadership Team.
Parents will be given access to their child’s assessment calendar at the beginning of every term, and we suggest becoming a Google Guardian, giving you an overview of what is happening in your child’s academic life.
Parent responsibilities
Parents and carers have a responsibility to send children to school and ensure they have regular attendance. If there are issues making it difficult to get your child to school, please reach out to your child’s Teacher, Homeroom Teacher or Head of Secondary/Primary College. We are here to partner with you.
